Plenty of people have tried to change
the seed by watering down the gospel and trying to make it
more palatable for non-Christians. It may appear that these
things have success but if you change the seed, you change
the plant that you get. If you want to grow an orange tree,
even though it is easier to grow tomatoes in your area, you
won’t grow an orange tree by planting tomato seeds. Change
the gospel to make it easier to grow and the plant you grow
won’t bear the fruit of salvation.
People who try to change the gospel
will not be looked upon lightly by God. Jesus tells us that
it would be better to tie a heavy millstone around our neck
than to lead someone astray.
The sower must remain the Christian
because no one else is going to do it. However, the soil can
be worked with. Hard ground can be dug up. Rocks can be
removed to prevent shallow soil. Weeds and be dug up and
removed before the seed is planted. There are things that we
can do that will help us plant more seeds in good soil so
that we will see good fruit.
The next chapter will discuss earning
the right to be heard. This will get us started on preparing
the soil so that more seeds may grow into fruit producing
plants.
