When we worry, what does it show a
non-Christian about our faith in God? Worrying means that we
don’t believe God has the strength or will to help us in
whatever our problem may be. This is exactly the opposite
from the message we want to get out. We want to tell the
world that there is a God in heaven who loves them and sent
his son into the world to die for them, that his power rose
him from the dead, and he has the power to forgive sins.
Instead, worrying tells the world that
either: I believe in God who is powerful enough to raise
Christ from the dead but doesn’t care enough about my
situation to help or My God loves me enough that he sent his
to the world to die for my sins but he doesn’t have the
power to help me in my situation.
We worry because we try to do things
in our strength. As Christians, we believe in God’s love and
his power. We don’t question these things. But instead, when
we worry we question our own ability to do something when we
should be relying on God to take care of it.
Matthew 6 tells us that God takes care of the birds and
clothes the lilies of the field. We need to trust God to
take care of us as well. If we are capable of showing others
how much we trust God then this will show just how different
we are from the rest of the world.
When we take all of these things to
account we will earn the right to be heard. No longer will
we just be yelling from our soapboxes but we will actually
have people’s attention as they understand we have a
different message from everyone else.
Now that we have earned the right to
be heard, we will look back the four soil types and discuss
what can be said and done so that we can see fruit come all
types of people.
