Be ready for when opportunity presents
itself. There are times when it may be inappropriate to
share your faith, but there are times when it is very
appropriate. When someone asks you, it is appropriate. In
the middle of a board meeting it is probably inappropriate.
As you establish relationships more and more appropriate
opportunities will present themselves.
When you have the opportunity to share
you faith, you should know what you are going to say. You
don’t have to have things scripted out on note cards but you
should probably have thought about it. As people watch you
live your life, you are going to get to tell them your
story.
As a person sees how you are self
controlled and asks you about it, perhaps you have a story
about how you used to lose your temper all the time before
you became a Christian. If a person wants to know why you go
to church, you should be able to explain it to them. And if
a person wants to know how to become a Christian, you can
relate how you became a Christian to them.
Your story is an important part of who
you are and it can play an important part in allowing others
to relate the gospel with their own lives. Treasure your
story and repeat it in your mind. When the opportunity to
present your story arrives, be prepared to tell it.
